šŸ¤¼ā€ā™‚ļøĀ Craic Attack’s – NXT – Too Many New Faces, Too Much Teenage Drama, But A Good Show – 22/1/2025 šŸ’„šŸ¤¼ā€ā™‚ļøšŸŽ

For those not in the know NXT is an interesting product for the WWE as it is in the invidious position of not only being the third brand of the company but also the training ground. The spot at which the youth or inexperienced sometimes both get the chance to develop and grow. There is a discussion to be had on this state of affairs but that’s for another blog. All you need to know is that the roster if full to the gills with “green” wrestlers. Green is a term for a wrestler who is of youth or inexperienced in either their promo, wrestling ability, look or often the whole package.

All of this is to say the expectation of NXT has to be less than both Raw or Smackdown. Now what’s funny about this is NXT started with Tony D’Angelo defending the North American Title against the ratings maven that is Ridge Holland. To me Tony is extremely close to being Main Roster ready. By The Way, Main Roster means Raw or Smackdown for future reference. Ridge formally was on the previously on the Main Roster. Now whether he was ever ready for that is debatable but it does mean that this is a great way to start the show. Ridge has been doing brilliant character work and thusly the audience hates him and it showed they were into every hit Tony gave him.

Now I must admit I was late to this show so I arrived mid way into this match, thankfully this didn’t affect my enjoyment of the match. However what did hurt my enjoy of the match was the ending. Tony D’Angelo character is that of a “legit” mob boss and his crew is called The D’Angelo Family. As you would expect of a Mob boss his family came out but Brooks JensenĀ &Ā Niko Vance started brawling with Channing Lorenzo aka StacksĀ &Ā Luca Crusifino. As you might expect the ref was distracted, then Izzi Dame randomly runs in to hit Ridge with a big boot. D’Angelo hits a Spinebuster for the win.

In theory all of this sounds like typical wrestling shenanigans however, I have been re-watching NXT for about three weeks and I didn’t know half of these people specificallyĀ Niko Vance and Luca Crusifino. Sure they have been in the background but to me their wasn’t enough interaction to know who it was that fighting especially on first glance. Now I didn’t know this was later but a match later would resolve this issue but for this moment I was confused

Unfortunately this would happen to me again and again it would be resolved later in the night Dion Lennox steps up to Wes Lee after Lee laughs at Lennox thinking he has potential. As they argue, Trick Williams randomly walks by to his locker. Lee then says “Speaking of former Champs” and Trick then decks him. Additionally there was Malik Blade and Edris Enofe in the background. I might need to take note of that due to people just suddenly appearing out of nowhere. I had never see Dion before and although I was aware of Wes this happened so quick the only person I truly knew was Trick Williams and to me that is an issue

Next came an interesting segment where Raw’s Bayley came out. If you are not aware Bayley maybe my favourite WWE female wrestler. She has incredible in-ring ability, Her pandemic yes I used the forbidden word get over it character work was some of the best throughout that era and I think see is getting stale but is still a shining star in women’s wrestling. Over the last few weeks her program with Roxanne Perez has been infiltrating all three shows and it’s awesome to see

Bayley then namedrops Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, and Lola Vice all women will we see later on however, in fact directly after this segment. I’ll get to that mess. Then she mentioned Giulia. New to NXT and an example of a wrestler who has the in-ring ability, has the look but not the character harder in her case because she’s Japanese and her English is passable. She says Roxy may not look up to Bayley, but she does and hopes to hold the title with as much honour as Bayley did. Then after some lovey dovey talk between the two, Roxy comes out with Cora Jade. The reaction alone was worth watching the show to be honest and I wont go into much about what was said but ultimately this was used as setup for a tag match between the 4 next week and that has me excited if nothing else.

Then for the second and not last time on this show I got lost in the gaggle of faces. Jaida basks in how Bayley mentioned her name two weeks in a row. Kelani runs in to say she mentioned her name first. They argue until Karmen Petrovic comes into act like a loved up puppy after a kiss last week that had about as much chemistry as me with vegetables, oil with water, Manchester United with Winning this season. Teenage drama, is the way to describe it folks.

Up next is Dion Lennox taking on Wes Lee. Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe accompany him for the match and I immediately shouted at the screen who in the blue blazes hell as these fools. Now as I stated earlier I had zero idea who Dion was but that didn’t matter it took them 30 seconds for me not to want to see him lose and that’s the goal of this industry so Wes Lee congratulations, you should be on the Main Roster. Ultimately it was a decent showcase but Dion definitely needs more time in matches to develop.Ā Lee then grabs the mic to challenge Trick for next week and if Dion is not involved I will genuinely be shocked

To be fair there are multiple reasons for this, not quiet getting the rules, thinking it looks ugly and the fact that it literally changed hands because of a disqualification within this feud but the Heritage Cup “Championship” was next. I like Lexis King and Charlie DempseyĀ sons of Brian Pillman and Steven “William” Regal. It was a grand match not enough to change my opinion of the concept but it did help develop Lexis Kings character and should help Charlie who’s only problem is he exudes as much charisma as a brick wall

Next wasĀ Karmen Petrovic with the person she kissed Ashante Adonis verse Jaida Parker. The teenage drama solved here. As seen below in my tweet I like the looks of both these women and funnily just found out Jaida came out with new music. Well both are still shocking and need a change for me. Nothing match with another stupid finish with an interference by Kelani Jordan but nice they were all on TV I guess.

Then an announcement that filled me with joy Bianca and Naomi verse Lash and Jakara for the WWE Womens Tag Team Championships next week. What made this even better is Lash, Jakara, Sol Ruca, Zaria, and a gaggle of others all stress the importance of Lash and Jakara winning next week to bring the women’s tag titles back to NXT. This is cool because back in the day they had an independent womens tag team championships for NXT that were merged with the Main Roster ones Bianca and Naomi hold so nice of them to remember the history of the show.

However it would be remise of me not to point out that Zaria debut less than 2 months ago and is relegated to this. Shame on the booking them she’s a star. Unfortunately NXT has too many female stars and thus this happens. She’s not ready for the Main Roster but I’d almost prefer her not to be on TV than here if I’m being 100 percent honest.

Next Brooks Jensen and Niko Vance with Shaun Spears take on Luca Crusafino and Stacks. Now this was funny because I had an awareness of Brooks Jensen but had never seen Niko Vance and didn’t no they had aligned with Spears. Well of course I didn’t this was there first match as a team. Now 2 things.

1. During the brawl in the North American Championship match if Brooks Jensen and Niko Vance had never teamed before how was I meant to know who they were and
2. NXT why did you wait so long to pair these too up

Now what’s brilliant about this is NXT has started the deal with TNA and thus a lot of excite Tag Teams are going to be swinging around the spot so these two will get the chance to learn so much. Additionally Stacks had an argument with Tony and I hope he comes out good in that because he has a chance of being … something in the future I wouldn’t bet a star but something.

Then we came to NXT Champion Oba Femi vs Eddy Thorpe. I’ve nicked this Tweet from legend of the community Humble Wrestling to give you an idea of what Oba Femi is. The only change to this caption is I would say “This Is THE Wrestler” he has everything you would want in a wrestler for the modern day. A look, the voice, the charisma, the in-ring ability and a bitching theme song seriously search it up you’ll be bopping for the next hour

To me this should have been a squash but it wasn’t and Eddy needed it to be as it was. It was a great showcase for both wrestlers and setup for next week with the boys Austin Theory and Grayson Waller being ringside for the whole thing and having a segment with Oba announced for next week. They need a spark and Oba needs the victims so it helps everyone involved. However just before the fade to black Trick Williams came out and faced Oba down which means a match is a coming and all I can say is inject it in my vains

I have borrowed the below tweet from CrispyWrestling if your interested in the live reactions follow them their awesome and yes need week looks like a slobberknocker of a week. If you are interest in the development side of WWE it is definitely a week to have a gawk and see if you like it

As I mentioned before eventually I want to transition to a video review of these events to make my opinion easier to understand and thusly leave any improvements you’d recommend but for now please enjoy my honest opinion of 22/1/2025 Tuesday Night NXT

Until next time, my friends! Be sure to keep your craic at 90! SlÔn go fóill!

🄊 Craic Attack’s – The Third Raw of the Netflix Era – 21/1/25 šŸ”„

I have many loves in live but one of the ones that take most of my hear is wrestling. For the past three weeks I have been on the CraicAttackCentral twitter [Shameless Plug on my Own Website https://x.com/CraicAttack] posting my live reactions to the events going on during the Monday Night Raw shows. Whats funny about that is that in Ireland I would be up at 1am watching it here in Thailand it was 8am to 10.30am which was handy because I had plenty of walking to do anyways [Postshadowing for a blog post later on] and honestly the time difference made this a far more enjoyable show. With that being said I will still be honest

This was week three of RawOnNetflix something that changes the view of this show vastely as it is the first time since the 90’s that a major culture event has occured that has brandished new eyes onto the product. As should be the way the show informing you where it is from tonight Dallas Texus with a beautiful stock video of the arena and then to a view of a few of the upper stars entering the arena your Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk rule of 3 with great running commentary from the Voice of the Voiceless Michael Cole. It built the show phenomonally and made your excited for what you might see. The they mention the fourth person Rhea Ripley and how she got attacked by Nia Jax giving a brand new hook to reel us in even more. The we get a Drone shot of the arena sold out with over 15k people. Makes the spot feel like a music be at event.

For the first time the commentary team needed to be changed Normally it’s Pat McAfee and Michael Cole but tonight it was Michael Cole and Wade Barrett. Pat and Michael mix like peanut butter and Jelly. Like bacon and Cabbage. Like me and wrestling. Whereas Michael and Wade are like a band without a drummer—something’s missing or pizza and pineapple—some love it, some don’t however I must say they were better tonight then on past appearances

The we got one of two Audience Entrances with Main Event Jey Uso. Since Backlash in France on May 4 2024 he has been the most popular man wwe has. His base charisma and joy are infectious and wonderful and lead to situations that are enjoyable for the long time fans like when McAfee is there he will dance on the commentary desk and try to get Cole to take part that couldn’t happen and Wade Barrett is a far more serious character so for one time Cole became the cheesiest he cold possibly become and dance around you’ll find the clip below thanks to the great CrispyWrestling on twitter, It genuinely makes you want to enjoy the show more seeing this

Before Jey can speak his opponent at the big event Saturday Night Main Event [SNME] the RAW world champion Gunther came out. For those that wouldn’t know it is of my opinion that Gunther is the closest thing to the perfect wrestler since one Randy Orton. Only thing he lacks is a connection with the fans. In his promo he can be brilliant but the fans have been distant and before tonight it has been a problem for him when he has been face to face with Jey. The two went back and forth and this time I think Gunther may have won but to be fair that’s also because Jey Lied about being in the Main Event of Mania. Night 1 Main Event doesn’t count. It does but does it really? Either way it made me excited for the Match next saturday

After there interaction we go backstage to Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods The New Day one of the greatest WWE tag teams of all time who have unfortunately been stagnating for a long time they meet Legend John ā€œBradshawā€ Layfield otherwise known as JBL and I have to stop here.

WWE announced a partnership with a ā€œrivalā€ called TNA and JBL was a very important part of their big show which was just one this weekend. Now throughout the next two segments I was awaiting this partnership or the event during the weekend to be mentioned neither of which were. This lead me as a SMARK which is a term for a fan who believes that the events and characters in professional wrestling are real. It can also refer to a fan who is overly devoted to a particular wrestler, promotion, or style of wrestling to expect JBL to do something which bothered me in the upcoming match

Thankfully they went straight from that interaction to the match for Rey Mysterio verse Kofi Kingston and well it got me thinking about The New Day. They still come out to the entrance they had when they were good guys. A mistake to me because the man they ā€œbetrayedā€ Big E is the voice in there entrance. I would keep everything the same but remix his voice into something disparaging every week

To those unaware years ago JBL used to be on commentary with on Michael Cole and its amasing to watch a person go back into a position like they never left it. However it did lead to a few issue. First hes a legend and hasn’t been seen much so he currently a baby face in the crowds eyes but hes flipping from Babyface to Heel the entire match. Additionally He didn’t actually do anything and thus wasted his and our time. As for the match it was good but to me the wrong man won The New Day needed the win and a random beat down wont do enough to build them up correctly

After that we got a short scene with The Judgement Day, but specifically Dominik Mysterio and Chad Gable. Dom is one for the future it would not shock me if in ten years time he was a multiple time world champion and Gable is unfortunately running against the clock to see if he’ll ever reach the peak he deserves to be at. So this made me extremely excited for what is next to happen

Now it’s funny because after this they went to the reason Gable went to Dom they went to Pete Dunne Verse Penta and this is a showcase of where production is king. The new pyro they added to penta entrance was brilliant it made him feel like a king. One thing I did notice is his attire looks a lot like Dom’s and that worries me a bit that it could become a hurdle for Dom on I would despise seeing if I’m honest. Whats great too is the match went long which was badly needed for Dunne He has almost everything needed as well so hopefully he can get by these loses and build to something in the future he is remarkably young which helps

Next came and Interesting dichotomy of wrestling a fantastic Logan Paul video promo and an even better CM Punk live promo with a brilliant interviewer in Jackie Redmond. One man Hated, the other … Loved … by most and the timing helped rise on off the other. I think Logan Paul has it when it comes to wrestling and Punk has our attention with his ability and excellence also a checky Hulk Hogan bash which was funny if nothing else. It is only a matter of time until this match happens too and to me this was subtly foreshadowing of its approach. Could it be a Wrestlemania match I think it would rule but I don’t think this is the year fore it?

This is a post from Wrestle Ops on Twitter brilliant account and you can see the fun in Punk, Redmond and the audiences eyes during the whole thing

After this came a Tag Team match bring forth some of the best women drowning in WWE inability to do anything with the Tag Team division. Iyo Sky, and Zoe Stark, are Main Eventer quality and the others aren’t far off but this match didn’t help them much. It’s better to be in the ring than not but with the Silent Entrance which is basically an entrance that occurred when the main camera was focused elsewhere for Pure Fusion Collection to the fact that it’s not the first match these groups have had for no reason I hope they all find something soon however, I’m losing faith in that

Then came the Main Event and I could write a thesis for this and the level of foreshadowing and story telling on display here. Earlier in the show there were a few segments with one Sami Zayn from a conversation with his former best friend Kevin Owens to one of the competitors within this match Seth Rollins this was all a set up to his story.

Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre have a long history and being used as setup for another story while prolonging their own story is the thing that makes this era of WWE so exciting. It helps even more that the matches are excellent. Those we got a Slobberknocker of a match and plenty of threads for the future. The match itself ended in a whimper with a roll up by Rollins but that was needed because both men needed to not outright lose.

The Thesis part come from the final scene Drew was going to lay out Rollins but after events and miscommunications Sami hit his finisher move on Seth Rollins instead of Drew. Why is this important because it is obvious at some point either Seth or Sami or both will be turning heel soon. That intrigue alone is enough to get me to continue watching this show be it at 1am in Ireland or at 8am in 30°C heat.

This is why I love wrestling, Why I love WWE, As you may have noticed by some of my embedded tweets this isn’t even all of my thoughts. It isn’t even all of the tweets. I could write another 2k words on this show easily but I’ll leave it with this. Honestly if you have ever been interested in WWE this is the time to get into it. The community are a pleasure to talk too. The production is insane and the crowds are next level even non televised shows are next level.

I will continue to talk about wrestling from now on. Eventually I want to transition to a video review of these events to make my opinion easier to understand but for now please enjoy my honest opinion of 21-1-2025 Monday Night raw
