🏝️ First Days in Phuket: Budgeting, Walking & Unexpected Adventures 🚶‍♂️💸

It’s funny how different things can be from what you expect. After arriving in Thailand and going to one or two establishments while waiting for the dormitory check-in time to come cross, I was riddled with worries and expectations of what it might be. I was worried that I would enter this room and feel claustrophobic or that due to the heat I might not be able to sleep or due to knowing there was another 11 people in the room with me would my snoring which I still don’t believe is a thing but multiple people have informed me is a thing would bother the rest of the people but honestly I slept like a baby and to my knowledge no body complained.

MaTong Hosted & MT Gallery New Friends Phuket Old Town Hostel is brilliant for what you pay for and a nice way to start this journey. Experiencing this first was really something I needed because it gives me more courage to potentially continue after the fitness camp and travel to different regions knowing that all I really need is a bed that night to be comfortable.

However there is one issue that has followed me straight from Ireland and that is my cheapness. For example MaTong Hosted & MT Gallery New Friends Phuket Old Town Hostel because I booked it a week early was 1,673.03 Thai Baht aka 43 Euro for the five days if I was to book just tonight it would be 1,299 Thai Baht aka 36 Euro just for the one night. Now to be fair you’d expect that but due to that the spontaneity I was thinking of having later in my journey may change to a slightly more organised thing.

Additionally the currency is the other thing it’s hard to get used too. If you purchase anything it almost always goes into the 100’s of Thai Baht I walked from the centre of Phuket Town out to a spectacular view point called Khao Rang. The walk took me 1 hour 33 minutes. Thankfully I had plenty of water sunscreen and charging to allow me to listen to music and enjoy the serenity of the walk however, why did I walk it and not just get a taxi? Initially it was because I was stubborn and wanted the steps but on the way back down it was because the Taxi was 600 Thai Baht. Due to my Euro brain that seemed like too much money and for the sharp or impatient of you, you either went and converted it or looked immediately for this number hence the waffle preceding it because I work for my joke and will make you read it of 17 euro.

Anyways enough of my cheapness. The Khao Rang lookout was a spectacular viewing. Seeing some locates make there way up to the statues and pray while pressing there forehead against the supposed gold statue made me almost wish I had that level of spirituality it gave me a genuine smile I haven’t had in some time. Additionally they translated some of the prayers into English for the tourist and that was fascinating to me as well.

One worry I had and still continue to have in almost everything I do to be over here as well is that often for the likes of these area they wish for you to take your shoes off and as one person said connect with the earth. It is far more prevalent here than I expected and will attempt as best I can to ensure I follow the culture as much as I can

After this you can continue to walk further up until you get to the viewpoint itself and well I’ll let this say it for me

It funny because after this I took some time at the restaurant beside the viewpoint and wrote https://craicattackcentral.com/2025/01/21/🥊-craic-attacks-the-third-raw-of-the-netflix-era-21-1-25-🔥/ because why not plug my own stuff. Where a number of interesting things took place. I noticed inflation due to location where a can of Coke Zero was 100 Thai Baht instead of the 30 Thai Baht is was everywhere else. I noticed a snake go through the restaurant out onto the balcony where I was typing and scare almost everyone in the best restaurant but especially two tourists who almost jumped off the balcony and they cutest thing since I left Ireland Monkeys eating stuff that they robbed from the locals/tourists

From here I debated the idea of a taxi but decided screw that lets walk the 2 hours it will take to the next spot someone recommended to me. The Upside Down House Museum and Fun Attractions Phuket. This was where I decided screw my cheapest I’ll use the taxi services from now on. However I must admit the 2 hour journey took me 2 hour 30 minutes but they were relaxing and tranquil. It gave me time for pause and allowed to contact a few people from Ireland and that made me feel better still. I know I don’t have home sickness but it was a pleasure being able to talk to some people. I have been attempting to talk to the locals but that hasn’t been as much as I would like so the conversations were a joy.

The The Upside Down House Museum and Fun Attractions Phuket was another example of where the concept of the money difference hit me. I wasn’t aware of the price to view it before arriving and when the cashier stated to me that it was 650 Thai Baht I was willing to leave only realizing then that was 18 euro roughly. So I went in and enjoyed the novelty

They gave you the option to have someone take the photos in positions that would look like you happened to be holding up or falling out of the upside down set piece and I was tempted to get a few more of them but the individual who took the photo almost dropped my mobile and thusly I decided to leave it and just enjoy the scenes.

Afterwards a lovely staff member who had great English came and forced me into a cooled room saying “Stop being an arrogant tourist, get in the cold as much as possible” and I almost feel out of my shoes with laughter if I’m honest. She also recommended as I was on my own to use the motorcycle taxi service 1/3 the price and just as effective so I did. Being on the back of that motorcycle made me feel sorry for every single car drive in Thailand. Every single Motorbike driver was swaying back and forth in around the other drivers trying to make it ahead you’d need to have your head on a swivel. It made me thankful for the driving conditions in Ireland to an extend. There are still a lot of bad Irish drivers would love to see them do 24 hours here.

I enjoyed my first full day here in Phuket. I might need to move out the town soon to experience thing but tomorrow might just be a relax day where if I see something I do and if I don’t well enough too need to be careful not to burn the fuse too much. Either way there will be a new post tomorrow.

Until next time, my friends! Be sure to keep your craic at 90! Slán go fóill!

🥊 Craic Attack’s – The Third Raw of the Netflix Era – 21/1/25 🔥

I have many loves in live but one of the ones that take most of my hear is wrestling. For the past three weeks I have been on the CraicAttackCentral twitter [Shameless Plug on my Own Website https://x.com/CraicAttack] posting my live reactions to the events going on during the Monday Night Raw shows. Whats funny about that is that in Ireland I would be up at 1am watching it here in Thailand it was 8am to 10.30am which was handy because I had plenty of walking to do anyways [Postshadowing for a blog post later on] and honestly the time difference made this a far more enjoyable show. With that being said I will still be honest

This was week three of RawOnNetflix something that changes the view of this show vastely as it is the first time since the 90’s that a major culture event has occured that has brandished new eyes onto the product. As should be the way the show informing you where it is from tonight Dallas Texus with a beautiful stock video of the arena and then to a view of a few of the upper stars entering the arena your Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk rule of 3 with great running commentary from the Voice of the Voiceless Michael Cole. It built the show phenomonally and made your excited for what you might see. The they mention the fourth person Rhea Ripley and how she got attacked by Nia Jax giving a brand new hook to reel us in even more. The we get a Drone shot of the arena sold out with over 15k people. Makes the spot feel like a music be at event.

For the first time the commentary team needed to be changed Normally it’s Pat McAfee and Michael Cole but tonight it was Michael Cole and Wade Barrett. Pat and Michael mix like peanut butter and Jelly. Like bacon and Cabbage. Like me and wrestling. Whereas Michael and Wade are like a band without a drummer—something’s missing or pizza and pineapple—some love it, some don’t however I must say they were better tonight then on past appearances

The we got one of two Audience Entrances with Main Event Jey Uso. Since Backlash in France on May 4 2024 he has been the most popular man wwe has. His base charisma and joy are infectious and wonderful and lead to situations that are enjoyable for the long time fans like when McAfee is there he will dance on the commentary desk and try to get Cole to take part that couldn’t happen and Wade Barrett is a far more serious character so for one time Cole became the cheesiest he cold possibly become and dance around you’ll find the clip below thanks to the great CrispyWrestling on twitter, It genuinely makes you want to enjoy the show more seeing this

Before Jey can speak his opponent at the big event Saturday Night Main Event [SNME] the RAW world champion Gunther came out. For those that wouldn’t know it is of my opinion that Gunther is the closest thing to the perfect wrestler since one Randy Orton. Only thing he lacks is a connection with the fans. In his promo he can be brilliant but the fans have been distant and before tonight it has been a problem for him when he has been face to face with Jey. The two went back and forth and this time I think Gunther may have won but to be fair that’s also because Jey Lied about being in the Main Event of Mania. Night 1 Main Event doesn’t count. It does but does it really? Either way it made me excited for the Match next saturday

After there interaction we go backstage to Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods The New Day one of the greatest WWE tag teams of all time who have unfortunately been stagnating for a long time they meet Legend John “Bradshaw” Layfield otherwise known as JBL and I have to stop here.

WWE announced a partnership with a “rival” called TNA and JBL was a very important part of their big show which was just one this weekend. Now throughout the next two segments I was awaiting this partnership or the event during the weekend to be mentioned neither of which were. This lead me as a SMARK which is a term for a fan who believes that the events and characters in professional wrestling are real. It can also refer to a fan who is overly devoted to a particular wrestler, promotion, or style of wrestling to expect JBL to do something which bothered me in the upcoming match

Thankfully they went straight from that interaction to the match for Rey Mysterio verse Kofi Kingston and well it got me thinking about The New Day. They still come out to the entrance they had when they were good guys. A mistake to me because the man they “betrayed” Big E is the voice in there entrance. I would keep everything the same but remix his voice into something disparaging every week

To those unaware years ago JBL used to be on commentary with on Michael Cole and its amasing to watch a person go back into a position like they never left it. However it did lead to a few issue. First hes a legend and hasn’t been seen much so he currently a baby face in the crowds eyes but hes flipping from Babyface to Heel the entire match. Additionally He didn’t actually do anything and thus wasted his and our time. As for the match it was good but to me the wrong man won The New Day needed the win and a random beat down wont do enough to build them up correctly

After that we got a short scene with The Judgement Day, but specifically Dominik Mysterio and Chad Gable. Dom is one for the future it would not shock me if in ten years time he was a multiple time world champion and Gable is unfortunately running against the clock to see if he’ll ever reach the peak he deserves to be at. So this made me extremely excited for what is next to happen

Now it’s funny because after this they went to the reason Gable went to Dom they went to Pete Dunne Verse Penta and this is a showcase of where production is king. The new pyro they added to penta entrance was brilliant it made him feel like a king. One thing I did notice is his attire looks a lot like Dom’s and that worries me a bit that it could become a hurdle for Dom on I would despise seeing if I’m honest. Whats great too is the match went long which was badly needed for Dunne He has almost everything needed as well so hopefully he can get by these loses and build to something in the future he is remarkably young which helps

Next came and Interesting dichotomy of wrestling a fantastic Logan Paul video promo and an even better CM Punk live promo with a brilliant interviewer in Jackie Redmond. One man Hated, the other … Loved … by most and the timing helped rise on off the other. I think Logan Paul has it when it comes to wrestling and Punk has our attention with his ability and excellence also a checky Hulk Hogan bash which was funny if nothing else. It is only a matter of time until this match happens too and to me this was subtly foreshadowing of its approach. Could it be a Wrestlemania match I think it would rule but I don’t think this is the year fore it?

This is a post from Wrestle Ops on Twitter brilliant account and you can see the fun in Punk, Redmond and the audiences eyes during the whole thing

After this came a Tag Team match bring forth some of the best women drowning in WWE inability to do anything with the Tag Team division. Iyo Sky, and Zoe Stark, are Main Eventer quality and the others aren’t far off but this match didn’t help them much. It’s better to be in the ring than not but with the Silent Entrance which is basically an entrance that occurred when the main camera was focused elsewhere for Pure Fusion Collection to the fact that it’s not the first match these groups have had for no reason I hope they all find something soon however, I’m losing faith in that

Then came the Main Event and I could write a thesis for this and the level of foreshadowing and story telling on display here. Earlier in the show there were a few segments with one Sami Zayn from a conversation with his former best friend Kevin Owens to one of the competitors within this match Seth Rollins this was all a set up to his story.

Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre have a long history and being used as setup for another story while prolonging their own story is the thing that makes this era of WWE so exciting. It helps even more that the matches are excellent. Those we got a Slobberknocker of a match and plenty of threads for the future. The match itself ended in a whimper with a roll up by Rollins but that was needed because both men needed to not outright lose.

The Thesis part come from the final scene Drew was going to lay out Rollins but after events and miscommunications Sami hit his finisher move on Seth Rollins instead of Drew. Why is this important because it is obvious at some point either Seth or Sami or both will be turning heel soon. That intrigue alone is enough to get me to continue watching this show be it at 1am in Ireland or at 8am in 30°C heat.

This is why I love wrestling, Why I love WWE, As you may have noticed by some of my embedded tweets this isn’t even all of my thoughts. It isn’t even all of the tweets. I could write another 2k words on this show easily but I’ll leave it with this. Honestly if you have ever been interested in WWE this is the time to get into it. The community are a pleasure to talk too. The production is insane and the crowds are next level even non televised shows are next level.

I will continue to talk about wrestling from now on. Eventually I want to transition to a video review of these events to make my opinion easier to understand but for now please enjoy my honest opinion of 21-1-2025 Monday Night raw

🌏 A New Beginning: My First 24 Hours Traveling✈️

It’s funny how different you can feel in just 24 hours. One moment, I was in Ireland with a knot in my stomach, nerves running wild, yet excitement bubbling underneath. The anticipation of what was to come was overwhelming. I stood outside the bus station for 30 minutes before departure—the longest downtime of the entire journey.

On the way to the airport, I was lucky to have a seat to myself, which gave me the chance to dive into videos about what to see and do in Thailand. As I arrived at Dublin Airport, the true mix of emotions hit me—a blend of excitement and dread. Security was an eye-opener; it wasn’t until I reached the checkpoint that I realized just how much useless stuff I had on me. It took three trays to hold all my belongings, and the staff made sure to let me know I was taking too long.

Once through security, I took a few minutes to repack my things and made my way to the gate. My first flight with Qatar Airways was a 6+ hour journey. I was naive about what to expect as an economy passenger, but the flight attendants were attentive, offering plenty of beverages, a snack, and even a meal—which did wonders to calm my nerves and pass the time.

I was seated next to an incredibly friendly gentleman, who found my travel inexperience amusing and was happy to share his own experiences. The only downside? The window seat. Asking to get out for the facilities felt awkward, and I haven’t yet figured out a solution to that problem.

After 6 hours and 30 minutes, I landed at Hamad International Airport in Doha. I had hyped myself up about this airport, having heard it was one of the nicest in the world. Initially, I thought it was on par with Dublin, but as I ventured closer to my gate, I was blown away by the intricate ornaments and beautiful design.

The worst part? Finding out that Manchester United had lost to Brighton—but I expected that.

Boarding the next flight was surprisingly smooth. As it was a connecting flight, I expected thorough checks, but it was a breeze. This time, I had an aisle seat, which came with its own perks. The screen was positioned to the side rather than in front of me, and though the quality was a bit lower, the flexibility of movement made up for it.

Upon landing in Thailand, airport checks were smooth, and I took a taxi to my accommodation.

Seeing groups of people packed into the backs of trucks, vans, and pickups was both unsettling and fascinating. One odd moment stood out—our taxi had a minor bump with a motorbike, leading to a quick but heated exchange before both drivers simply moved on as if nothing had happened.

The biggest challenge came upon arriving in town six hours before check-in. Lugging my gear around during this wait was an experience in itself.

I passed the time by visiting several coffee shops and exploring a few areas, but the real adventure starts tomorrow. Now that I’m settled, the nerves have vanished, replaced by pure excitement for what’s ahead and the personal growth this journey will bring.

Until next time, my friends! Below are a few more snapshots from my travels. Be sure to keep your craic at 90! Slán go fóill!

A New Chapter and New Opportunities 🌍🎮

It’s with a mix of gratitude and excitement that I announce the end of my journey at Ericsson Athlone, Ireland. After five incredible years, I’m reflecting on the experiences and lessons that have shaped me as a professional and individual. From the collaborative environment to the inspiring mentors and colleagues, this chapter of my career has been transformative, equipping me with a wealth of skills that I’ll carry forward into the next phase of my professional journey.

A Reflective Journey
At Ericsson, I had the privilege of working on cutting-edge projects in software development and DevOps, which pushed me to grow and innovate. One of the most rewarding aspects was collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry—learning from my colleagues, sharing knowledge, and tackling challenges together. From mastering Kubernetes and Jenkins to diving deeper into cloud infrastructure, my technical abilities have evolved exponentially during my time here.

But beyond the technical growth, Ericsson taught me invaluable lessons in teamwork, resilience, and leadership. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to develop both as a professional and a person.

What’s Next?
As I look forward to the next chapter, my focus remains on continuing to expand my expertise in software development and DevOps. I’m particularly excited about applying the knowledge and skills I’ve gained to new projects, exploring new technologies, and contributing to the ever-evolving tech landscape. The possibilities in this field are endless, and I am eager to be part of the next big thing.

Merging Passion with Profession
Over the last few months, I’ve also ventured into the world of content creation, particularly streaming. Through my Twitch channel, CraicAttackCentral, and YouTube, I’ve begun exploring the exciting world of gaming, storytelling, and video editing. Streaming has opened up new avenues for me to blend my technical skills with creativity, offering a fun yet challenging way to connect with others and tell stories.

The journey doesn’t stop there—I’m diving deeper into producing content on topics that excite me, like wrestling and football. This creative pursuit isn’t just about entertainment; it’s helping me hone valuable skills in communication, video production, and content strategy. These are skills that I’ll not only use in my personal projects but that I can also bring to my next professional role.

A Personal Transformation
In just a few days, I’ll be embarking on a transformational journey to Thailand for a fitness camp and cultural exploration. This experience will not only help me improve my physical well-being but will also be an opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, immerse myself in new cultures, and grow as an individual. Along the way, I’ll be documenting my experiences on my new blog: CraicAttackCentral.com.

I’m excited to share the ups and downs of this journey as I continue to grow as a content creator and improve my writing and digital presence. Writing about my adventures will allow me to connect with others on a deeper level, while further developing my personal brand.

Gratitude and Looking Ahead
I want to take a moment to thank everyone at Ericsson for the knowledge, mentorship, and friendships that I’ll carry with me always. The relationships I’ve built here have made all the difference in my growth and success, and I will always cherish the time spent with such an incredible team.

While I’m excited about the future, I know I wouldn’t be here without the amazing foundation laid at Ericsson. And so, I look forward to this new chapter with optimism, eager to continue growing and embracing new opportunities.

Here’s to new beginnings, both personal and professional. 🛫

Stay connected with me as I embark on this exciting journey:
